Offering Farm Tours & Classroom Visits - Located in Ibex Valley

Why Visit Sunnyside Farm?

With mountain views in three directions, and frequent visits by moose and lynx, our farm is an inspiring place to live and work. We have lots of space for students to experience nature and explore the differences between farm land and boreal forest. Students can watch a cow milking demo, try milking the “rubber glove” cow, learn about dairy processing, interact with dairy calves and chickens and learn how to care for them. They can also seed, transplant, and harvest vegetables and learn about garden maintenance.

About our Farm

Sunnyside Farm is an 86 acre family farm located in the Ibex Valley which has been carved out of boreal forest and is still under development. We are also Whitehorse’s only cow dairy and produce whole, unhomogenized milk, butter and cream for sale in local stores. Our cows eat a mixture of locally grown hay, pasture grasses rotationally in season, and a special dairy ration formulated by the Yukon Grain Farm. We raise our own replacement heifers, milk cows twice a day, pasteurize, process, bottle and market our dairy products.

Our farm has pastures and hay fields, two market garden areas, raised beds and a greenhouse. We use crop rotation, compost and natural fertilizer “recipes” to help our crops grow, start all our vegetables from seed, and use a variety of structures to protect the plants in our cold climate.
